Dog with a Bone!

Hello All

Finally, this week Mr. Warehouse and I receive a reply from Hays Travel, following my four-page letter over a month ago, complaining about our Honeymoon from Hell to the Continental Plaza Beach Resort Hotel Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. Suffice to say that the outcome was not quite as expected. Hays Travel opened by thanking us for taking the time to contact them and naturally they were very concerned to hear that "aspects" of our holiday had not met with our expectations, especially on such a special occasion as a Honeymoon.

One of the first things they did was pretty much copy and paste the hotel description, seemingly from their database which was sadly mostly incorrect. "The Continental Plaza Beach Resort is rated 4 stars" however we were sold it as a 5 star. "The hotel facilities include 24h reception, several restaurants and bars, several pools, children's pool, water slides, spa facilities, fitness center, tennis court, and internet/wireless internet." Several pools? False - There were only 2. Water slides, spa facilities, fitness center, tennis courts? All totally non-existent. The swim-up bar also was missing and yet promised.

Hays Travel went on to describe the “hotel guestrooms are being equipped with hairdryer, TV, telephone”, however, we would disagree that any of these items were in any fit condition to be honestly and truthfully listed as a “working facility/equipment”. The TV barely worked, the TV remote either had no backing to it and was rusting or what batteries were in there were expanding (in which the next stage would have been explosion which could have been very dangerous considering we were in an interconnecting “family room”) and the telephone either didn’t work or was hanging off the wall with wires hanging out, again extremely dangerous and unsafe. And that wasn't even all of it.

Continuing the reply to our complaint email they stated that "some of the above facilities may be closed due to weather / seasonal conditions", however, I fail to see how weather or seasonal conditions would have any effect on whether or any of the issues we have brought up include but not limited to the filthy and tired decor, worn-out state of the hotel's common areas and WiFi. I fail to see how weather/seasonal conditions directly affect not being able to get a simple glass of wine after asking for this over five times or that it means a swim-up bar would be stocked and manned or the multiple restaurants not being as advertised and force-feeding guests unconfirmed and undisclosed food rather than the A La Carte experience as detailed and expected from not only ourselves but the other multiple guests who either complained or walked out – Or both! Interesting to see their reply to this nonsense phrase.

The Travel Operator continued "it is difficult for [Hays Tour Operating] to comment on facilities we do not advertise". Now whilst we understand it is difficult for them or in fact any holiday travel agent to be clued up and 100% knowledgeable on any and all facilities in every single hotel or resort across the world, the fact that Hays Tour Operating sell holidays or in our case a Honeymoon, is based entirely off advertising and selling a holiday. My new husband and I were sold and paid nearly £1,700.00 for a five-star and expected this and nothing less and yet we barely received a 2-star.

Laughably, the UK's biggest travel agents claimed that "the issues faced with Wi-Fi, the speed of Wi-Fi depends on several circumstances and as technology is rapidly changing, not all areas will have the same connection speed" and that they regret any inconvenience this caused. However, this is simply not the case or our experience. When booking the hotel, this along with other items were very important to us and up there with some of the “must-haves” we needed and wanted for our holiday - and yet never received.

Amongst other topics of discussion, they stated that "the observations made regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel overall have been passed to the accommodation management with the view to make improvements where necessary and we will continue to monitor this element of their operation moving forward" and also that as a company they "appreciate our concerns in regard to health and safety as some areas of the hotel appeared to be under construction, the hotelier has advised these are restricted areas out of use and of little disruption to guests."

As expected and predicted, Hays Travel said that since they were in a position to offer an alternative accommodation to fulfill our package, the Jaz Fanara Resort Hotel, which was booked for the remainder of our stay and we were happy with the change in hotels, the offering of not a reimbursement or compensation but a goodwill gesture. A goodwill gesture of £100.00. Ending their email response, Hays Travel said that they hoped this would "be accepted in the spirit in which it is intended". As in a joke? A mockery of our traumatic honeymoon? As an absolute fucking farce? No. This is not OK.

So no Hays, £100.00, less than 10% of what we originally paid, is not really appropriate. Given the circumstances, that we were forced to experience this utter horror and the fact that the majority of our not just holiday but our Honeymoon was thoroughly ruined and our memories tarnished completely, Hays Tour Operating offering £100.00 is almost laughable and we feel is almost insulting considering the traumatic experiences we have had. And so I replied. And they responded and I have also to no avail. But be warned Hays Travel, I am not going to be letting this one go!

'Til next time, Love A.Lou x

Late Nights & Christmas Lights

Hi Everyone

Goodbye snotty nose, cough, and dry throat! For once I am sickness-free and finally totally back to little old me again. But that might not stay as I have my COVID booster booked in this week.

Whilst we discussed last week that many more people have been not only singularly but doubly vacc'd, some people, like yours truly has even been offered a third vaccine to protect them from this disease and all of its variants and mutations. Government figures show that so far, 89% of people aged 12 and over in the UK have had their first vaccine dose, 81% have had their second and 36% have had a booster. The BBC confirms there have been more than half a million confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK in the last week, however, the number of dead has not increased since my last blog post.

The British broadcaster's website explains in an article by James Gallagher, a Health and science correspondent, that whilst some scientists have described the new variant of  COVID19 (Omicron) as milder than earlier versions of Coronavirus, such as Delta. Although of course, it would not be fair to only listen and read up on one side of the argument. And so we need to establish that science in its very nature is rather subjective and as such, some academics in the Science industry have claimed that Omicron had such a long list of mutations that it was being described in articles as "horrific" and the worst variant they'd seen

Omicron, named by the World Health Organization, following the pattern of Greek code-names like the Alpha and Delta variants has now been detected in more than 30 countries and there are signs it may be able to bypass some of our immunity. Great! But a lot of mutation doesn't automatically mean: bad. It is important to know what those mutations are actually doing explains James Gallagher in the article

Whilst there are fears that Omicron could be more infectious and less responsive to vaccines personally feel as though the aforementioned "precautions" are being taken a little too prematurely. At least wait until scientists can properly assess what the new variant's impact could be and then jump into Hands-Face-Space-Repeat. But then I suppose if this did all blow up and went to shit we would all be blaming BoJo and his friends for not acting quickly enough. Like a lot of people I know, I am totally unnerved and somewhat untrusting of the government, especially after the shit show that was last Christmas and the close to years in totality we have now had to spent locked in, locked down, and isolated.

All we can do is hope and pray and enjoy our freedom as it stands at the moment. And I did such that on Saturday even when, as always, I went for a nice relaxed and quiet catch-up with Miss Hackney and Miss Sugar-Coat. It was the first time since Mr Warehouse and I got married that I had seen Miss Sugar-Coat and I was excited to fill her in and hear all about her life too. But as it always happens (and I don't know why I thought this time would be any different) no sooner had our food arrived on the table at Baja, a casual Mexican restaurant in the heart of Bedford Town, we were already planning to leave.

Not one to turn down an invite, Miss Hackney and I "joined" Miss Sugar-Coat and basically gate-crashed her work Christmas party. A good few hours of drinking ensued, several shots of Tequila and many bottles of wine and champagne, many we had not put our hand in our pocket for. It wasn't long before we were dancing on the top floor of some nightclub and stealing fresh air and conversing with all sorts of messy characters. As the night progressed, Miss Hackney and I left Miss Sugar-Coat and her colleagues to it and headed to another bar. Although we were refused entry to one, goodness knows why and nearly kicked out of another for smuggling in a bottle of Rose. Within a couple of hours though I was headfirst into a bin and remembering what my Chimichanga tasted like the first time.

The following day I woke up, remembering how Mr. Warehouse was collecting our nieces and nephews this afternoon so we could have a Christmas craft day whilst their Mom and Dad helped "Santa" out with some last-minute bits. I had hoped that it would be a quiet afternoon in front of the telly, cuddled up with snacks watching The Grinch. I mean it worked for a little bit, and the crafts and colouring allowed me another hour or so but boredom was afoot. However, on noticing we have yet to put up our decorations there was soon "something" to do. Dreading it I was actually pleasantly surprised that the tree wasn't top-heavy being decorated all in one place with little hands. I was quite proud of my youngest Nephew, taking on the role of chief detangler of Christmas tree lights and deputy tree dresser.

And so as I sit here now, dogs cuddled up around me and Mr Warehouse watching the football, we are sat here in the glow of the Christmas tree, all in the knowledge that had the kids not pestered me to get up from my pit and dress the house in Xmas joy and tinsel, then it would have been another weekend passing without decorations in our home. I don't know why they abolished child labour, they seem to have so much fun, and secretly, so did I.

Here we go again ...

Hello All

One week on and not only am I still recovering (mainly snotty nose, cough, and dry throat) from the flu but now my Husband has it too, although mild in comparison to moi. Positivity is on the decline as we have yet to receive a reply from Hays Travel, following my four-page letter a fortnight ago, complaining about our Honeymoon from Hell to the Continental Plaza Beach Resort Hotel Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. Still there is nothing as yet. But be warned Hays Travel, I am not going to be letting this one go!

Sadly to say the positivity is low this week as the world is dealt another blow from the all-consuming dread that is COVID-19. Since I last mentioned stats and news and blah blah blah back in the heady heights of summer a lot has changed. Many more people have been vacc'd, not just one but two, and some people even a third. Government figures show that so far, 89% of people aged 12 and over in the UK have had their first vaccine dose, 81% have had their second and 31% have had a booster. Barer of (mainly) bad news, the BBC confirms there have been more than 10 million confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK and nearly 145,000 people have died.

The broadcaster's news website explains that a new Covid variant - Omicron - has been identified and there are fears that it could be more infectious and less responsive to vaccines. Therefore, "precautions" are being taken until scientists can properly assess what the new variant's impact could be. Whilst the average number of daily confirmed cases has bounced around since mid-July, they have been rising again since early November and with the emergence of the new Omicron variant The UK government has decided on some new "temporary" measures being put in place as a "precaution".

Yes, I am skeptical and yes I, like a lot of people I know are totally untrusting of the government, especially after stealing away our last Christmas and the months we have spent locked in, down, and isolated. The new restrictions, including the compulsory use of face coverings in shops and on public transport in England, come into force on Tuesday as well as anyone entering the UK will require a PCR test within 48 hours of arrival and will need to self-isolate until they receive a negative result.

As now dictated, From Tuesday 30 November 2021, face coverings will once again be compulsory in shops and on public transport in England. Pupils at secondary schools in England are being "strongly advised" to wear face coverings in communal areas, although somehow lower and high schools are totally fine??? It obviously goes without saying that any and all contact with suspected Omicron cases, originating from mainly South Africa, should be reported and you will be required to self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of your vaccination status. This goes hand in hand with the order that from 4am on Tuesday, anyone entering the UK will require a PCR test within 48 hours of arrival and must self-isolate until they have a negative result.

The aforementioned third vaccine against COVID is really just a Booster vaccine and the campaign is underway is not just for people aged over 40 or belonging to a number of other groups. It has now been extended to all over-18s to help stop a potential wave of cases driven by the new Omicron variant and with nearly 15 million booster doses already been administered in England so far (1.7 million in Scotland, 870,000 in Wales and 370,000 in Northern Ireland) were off to a good start.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there are "good reasons" to believe the vaccines will provide at least some protection against the new Omicron variant and has even called on people to get their booster doses as soon as possible as "If you're boosted, your response is likely to be stronger so it's more vital than ever that people get their jabs and we get those boosters into arms as fast as possible," he said.

So, What are the chances of another lockdown? Well, the government has repeatedly said it has no plans for another lockdown in England. Although how much of that I believe is debateable and maybe in a few weeks we will revisit this blog post to see how true this really it. In September, Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced a list of measures which would come into place if the NHS came under "unsustainable pressure". These included face coverings, but also measures which have still not been brought in such as advising people to work from home and mandatory Covid passports. Who knows, Maybe BoJo and his friends will wait until we have all spent our money, bought ther presents, put up the tree and have the turkey in the fucking oven before he swipes it away from us all over again?

It's either the flu or love... The symptoms are the same.

Heyy

Can I have just one week where I don't feel like utter shit? The last fortnight I have been scared to even fart (literally) and now after having my flu jab last week I am not feeling great again. Nothing too serious, typical flu symptoms including cough, sore throat, headaches, and bunged-up nose that also runs non-stop.

But why does this happen and what is the actual science behind it because for me I know so many people who are entitled to an annual flu vaccine who actively decline it on the basis they feel poorly and get flu symptoms after being jabbed. I myself (now on the other side of thirty - Shhh) am now one of them and as it was my first year I thought nothing more than popping along to my local Boots Pharmacy and getting myself set up and ready for winter. I am older now, a married woman, and need to start taking my health seriously.

I was informed by the practitioner there that the flu vaccine is a safe and effective vaccine, offered every year on the NHS to help protect people at risk of getting seriously ill from flu. He told me in a sectioned-off party of the shop, shrouded by doctor screens that I was doing the right thing and that the best time to have the flu vaccine is in the autumn or early winter before flu starts spreading.

So why was I there and was this some new thing because of COVID, or was it because I am now older, or is it something else? Well, I was informed that being very overweight (this would be classed as a body mass index or BMI of 40+) which I am apparently part of that club now. Fatties unite. But funnily enough, other than oldies, preggo's and the generally vulnerable, there are some people that can't have it. The Dr. advised me the same as what can be found on the NHS website that most adults can have the flu vaccine, but you should avoid it if you have had a serious allergic reaction to a flu vaccine in the pastThere are several types of injected flu vaccines but none of them contain live viruses so they cannot give you flu. Hmmm?!

One thing I thought was funny and a bit odd that I was asked by the Doc - Do you have an egg allergy. Strange thing to ask I thought and so I enquired. He explained that if you did have an egg allergy, you may be at risk of an allergic reaction to the flu vaccine injection as some flu vaccines are made using a dead viral load in unfertilized eggs and so any affliction to eggs or poultry may cause serious health concerns. GP's or pharmacists do have a solution for this though and a low-egg or egg-free vaccine can be administered.

Feeling fine I left the appointment feeling I had done my bit, not just to protect me, but others too that I may come into contact with. I felt fine until Friday. The NHS website states that flu vaccines are very safe, with most side effects being mild and only last for a day or so, such as slightly raised temperature, muscle aches or a sore arm where the needle went in. Well ...

This whole weekend I have literally spent most of it unproductively sat cuddled up on the sofa. I have got me some flu meds and been sucking on Soothers like my life depends on it. Hopefully, I am coming to the end of it soon but you know either way, if I could just have a couple of days that I don't want to just curl up under a duvet then that would be great!

Following last week's email to Hays Travel, both I and my new Husband have yet to hear back regarding our complaint about our Honeymoon from Hell to the Continental Plaza Beach Resort Hotel Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. After several emails asking for an update I was told that it could be up to 28 DAYS to even get a reply to what was a very simple request - Just tell us the breakdown in costs from the hotel, flights, and transfers so we can make a full complaint specifically claiming back the hotel proportion of the holiday costs. But no. Nothing as yet. But be warned Hays Travel, I am not going to be letting this one go!

Honeymoon from Hell!

Evening and Hello,

"Well at least until next week when we can submerse ourselves in newly-wedded bliss again as we head off on honeymoon! Egypt here we come!" - Oh famous last words ...

So firstly I should apologize. This is the first time I have spoken to you all since October and we are now mid-November. Most of which will be unveiled in this blog post but in short a melting pot of stress, anxiety, upset, and being poorly led to me not being able and/or well enough to write which has been hard but I am ready to now tell all. After having to postpone our wedding multiple times from October last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, I married my husband a little under a month ago, and following this, we decided to go back to Hays Travel (after we had used them back in September 2020 for the trip to Marmaris in Turkey which was incredible). Walking into the travel agents in Bedford we were there to book a very special trip indeed - Our Honeymoon. Paying over £1,600.00 for a five-star, all-inclusive hotel with flights, transfers, and airport parking at Gatwick, we were excited.

Websites and the agent described the Continental Plaza Beach Resort as a "5-star resort in Sharm el-Sheikh located in El Pasha Bay, otherwise, known as Garden Reef Bay due to its beautiful beach reefs teeming with marine life. Adjacent to Naama Bay, it was described as having 5 restaurants, an aqua park, an extensive spa, and with the bright rooms we were sure to be relaxing in Luxury. Rooms with large windows opening onto a terrace or balcony overlooking the sea or beautiful gardens and grounds, the facilities including satellite TV, an electric kettle, and marble bathroom would all be bonuses. The agent informed us of all the restaurants at the Continental Plaza Beach Resort, serving world cuisine, ranging from Italian to Indian to barbecue specialties. And for the times when your belly was full and you wanted to laze by one of the 4 pools, there were also swim-up bars serving refreshing cocktails and light snacks. There was also a Gym for all those who couldn't escape a workout but for me the only working out to do was what I was going to do first and how I was going to fit it all in.

Arriving in Sharm El-Sheikh I was unprepared for the overwhelming safety procedures and the crowds of men waiting at the front of the airport to try and offer a lift or services to weary travelers and naive tourists. For this reason, I was grateful for a private shuttle but the chaos and the intense atmosphere at the airport arrivals had left me feeling unsafe and having a panic attack in the back of the cab. Sadly, the stress of the wedding and all that went with it was nothing in comparison to what we experienced whilst in Egypt. And it was only just beginning!

Following our arrival at the hotel, we discovered very quickly that the Continental Plaza Beach Resort Hotel booked was far from the advertised and sold five-star, all-inclusive, and was more like a 2* on the comparison. We were not made to feel special and our first room (Note first room) was basic without the bare essentials you expect including a kettle as promised in the brochures. This was far below the standard we paid for.

The TV barely worked, the mirror in the bathroom was old and worn with paint peeling off and the bathroom itself was dirty and disgusting with toothpaste on the wall and chunks missing from the tiles and walls. The curtains were not clean and had burn marks from cigarettes. I mean I could barely open the wardrobe door without the door handle coming off in my hand.
Calling reception, a serviceman came out to look at the TV and basically shrugged and left with little to no words said. Tired from a whole day of traveling my new Hubby and I tried to make the most of it, hoping the view, food, and facilities would make up for the poor hotel room conditions. This was not the case.

The following morning and the first day of our Honeymoon, I woke up and within moments broke down into tears. Without hesitation and straight away I went to speak to reception and complained explaining that it was our honeymoon (as we had when we checked in just hours before) and that we were not happy. They helped us to move rooms however after being shown the third room by a teenage boy who spoke very little if any English I was told in broken words that there were no "better looking" rooms and all of them were "in the same condition".

Sadly, despite the move, our new room was not much better. There were stains, the TV remote is rusting where the batteries are (which we could clearly see as there is no back). Again, as with our first room, bathroom mirror worn and old, the bathroom itself was dirty and disgusting with drawings and marks on the walls. The curtains were not clean and had burn marks and in addition, we had walls with weird, suspicious splash marks on them. A cardholder/reader was hanging off the wall, floor tiles chipped, and a bathroom phone with wires hanging out the back of it. This was horrendous.

The WiFi we were assured of throughout the hotel is non-existent apart from the Lobby and that's only when it's quiet which is almost never as everyone in the "resort" is doing the same. I even had to go and buy a local Egyptian SIM card so we can just get by (without it we would have had no way to fill in our passenger location form for re-entry into the UK). I can only thank my lucky stars for knowing this and having the facilities to purchase this (at a cost of £20.00). After meeting with what we thought and were told was our rep Mr. Warehouse and I spent the day exploring the surroundings and just walking around the hotel grounds. We desperately tried to enjoy ourselves however this is far far FAR below what we expected and what we were sold.

There were only 2 pools, no swim-up bar, no aqua park, no heated pool, the sun loungers are as tired and worn as the hotel with yet more stains and marks. Even the patio and walkways are crooked and broken. Building works seem to be taking place everywhere and there was even an abandoned part of the hotel which was unlocked, unsafe, and filled with health and safety hazards, bad enough already not to mention being mere meters from a children's playground and swimming pool and with a wraparound balcony any child (or adult) could have fallen from.

The five "world class" restaraunts? Well ...
The food from the buffet 2 restaurants was not appealing or appetizing at all with food being left out so long it is going brown or had a skin on top (sauces including soups and gravy). However, the food was being constantly swapped and changed between the two, serving the same stuff over and over and over again with no change and rotating it between the two floors. The BBQ restaurant did not exist. The seafood restaurant did not exist unless we specifically asked to go there and even then, there was no information on how to do this? A La Carte restaurants were Italian and Oriental which we will get onto later. There was not even the opportunity to venture out of the hotel and eat somewhere else as we are miles from anything and unlike as we were promised it is nowhere near any other bar or restaurant that we could walk to. The place is honestly far below anything we thought or promised it was when we booked and despite trying to remain positive, my husband and I already wanted to pack our bags and come home. It had not even been a day and rather than being bonking in the sheets, we were balling our eyes out and feeling pretty low.

It was at this point on the Sunday evening, barely a few hours after landing that we emailed Hays Travel and detailed our issues. This was not a positive email gushing about how wonderful it was. Far from it. This was not the honeymoon we wanted or expected. This was not the honeymoon we paid for, putting not only all of our wedding guests' wonderfully generous gifts into but also a fair amount of our savings too. Savings that could have been used better.

The following day I had a reply to sort something out as we were totally unhappy. The response was not great though as the offered two alternative hotels - Dreams Beach Resort and the Aurora Oriental Resort were as bad as where we were if not worse. Both hotels of which were, according to the reviews posted on the likes of trip adviser and Google Reviews (some of which had only been submitted most recently as a few hours or days beforehand) confirmed that both the Dreams Beach Resort and the Aurora Oriental Resort'conditions and appeal was the same if not worse than what we were currently experiencing at Continental Plaza Beach Resort Hotel

"I don't know if anyone bothered to check these out but I would have expected that if something has gone so wrong and serious as moving hotels due to the condition and appearance then the most recent reviews and a full check on the hotel we would be moved to would be checked out for its suitability, not to mention keeping in alignment with something close to what we actually booked and paid for," was part of my furious reply to Hays TravelNeither was 5*. Neither had the variety of restaurants or food quality we expected, booked and paid for. Neither had the variety of facilities we expected, booked and paid for.

After refusing these and giving ample opportunity to fix the situation we were sick and tired of just "making do". We wanted to come home. In floods of tears (again), we explained this over email to which Hays Travel point blank refused, stating if we wanted to come home then this would not be something they would fund as there was an offered "alternative accommodation option" and should we wish to come home, we would have to sink another £800+ into flights to come home from a honeymoon which was a constant waking nightmare.

In the meantime, someone had obviously contacted the hotel manager who accosted us walking back from the Lobby that evening and argued with us regarding the complaint we had made on the run-down state and poor condition of his hotel. He was unhelpful, unaccommodating, unapologetic, unsympathetic, unempathetic, and quite rude. He seemed more concerned that someone had made a complaint and gone into an undesignated area and taken photos of unsafe and dangerous rooms than actually sorting the issue. I recall him even saying his own words "we cannot satisfy you so you should leave" ...

Unable to come to an agreement let alone a resolution Mr. Warehouse and I walked away as the conversation was getting more and more frustrated and rude (from the manager's direction). As we went to walk off, we were approached by another hotel guest who had their own string of complaints and problems with the hotel and who had been met with the same hostile approach.

That evening the Hubby and I went to the "Italian" A La Carte restaurant, hoping that with everything else failing miserably that this would be the jewel in the alloy crown. You guessed it. It was not.

After 5-minutes of waiting around for someone to show us to a table, we were seated. Neither I nor Mr Warehouse were asked what we would like to drink - at - all.

Our starter arrived - which we had not ordered. This was a "salad" which was closer to a Mexican salsa than any salad I have ever eaten as it only consisted of finely chopped tomato, onion, and cucumber with some coriander thrown in for good measure. When I queried what it was and why this had been brought out as opposed to a menu for us to choose from, we were told that there was no choice. The meal was a "salad", Pizza and chocolate cake (which was no different from the one served at the buffet restaurants). The menu we were told was also the same regardless of whether you booked for the "Italian" or "Oriental" A La Carte restaurants. Yet again different restaurants serving the same food. At last check, Pizza is not Oriental and neither is a salad or chocolate cake.

By this point, our third, nearly fourth day into our Honeymoon and I had barely eaten anything as so unappetizing and gross. I was starving and so was Mr. Warehouse. As the waiter turned, leaving our table, I was so heartbreakingly disappointed and on the verge of tears again. My new husband however was fuming. At no point had we been offered a choice of what we were getting as the phrase A La Carte means - having choices. This was no better than a goose being force-fed for Foie gras.

Soon enough the main course of Pizza arrived and still, we had not been asked what we would like to drink (not that it mattered since you couldn't get a glass of wine in the entire hotel without having to ask no less than 5 times which I know due to first-hand experience). At no point had we been asked about allergies or intolerances (thank the fucking lord) and we had no clue about what was in any of the food we were presented.

Luckily neither I nor my husband have any allergies or intolerances, however, we have close friends and family who are and that being even within close proximity can cause a huge anaphylactic reaction which could be, in some circumstances critically life-threatening. We refused the pizza, again explaining not only to the waiter but also to the manager of the restaurant that this was not A La Carte. We were told that it was a set menu. Again this is not the case as even with a set menu you would be offered a choice of what we were getting. Neither were the case.

With this, we left and proceeded up to the Lobby where we waited for our actual rep to arrive. He was over 30-minutes late with no apology or explanation. On relaying all of the above and writing this all down (more than thirty items of failure) we made it clear we wanted results. This. Was. Not. Acceptable.

We were then soon offered the choice to transfer to the Jaz Fanara Resorts Hotel or one of the other less than satisfactory accommodation suggestions or to pay a further £800.00+ we didnt have to come home. We accepted the Jaz Fanara Resorts Hotel and arrived to a warm welcome and continued our Honeymoon then with a pleasant stay, however with no thanks to Hays Travel as we had the further stress of having to try and locate a taxi and explain to them where we needed to go and how much it was going to cost (£20.00).

As I am sure you can already tell, we are still not happy and, regardless of the improvement in hotel standards at the end we have made a complaint. Although this was delayed slightly as whilst out in Egypt still and as a result of the poor hygiene and unsanitary conditions, both I and Hubby contracted Food Poisening which meant that even the remainder of our Honeymoon was virtually unsalvageable as we were both very poorly with vomiting and diarrhea. Our holiday which was let's be fair TOTALLY ruined and now forever etched and scarred on our memory as to how our Honeymoon was and not how it should have been.

As yet we have no reply and are no closer to a resolution. Hopefully, we can get something by next week and I can update you with more regarding our Honeymoon from Hell!

'Til next time, Love A.Lou x
